Lies

I want to write more here then I do... With R not knowing I do this, and you know, the Business, two kids, one being 3 months and here at my Business while I work... Uh, things get a bit hectic. So here I am to talk about lies, three year olds and garbage.

Last night Tide asked for and was eating a cup of applesauce. He had already consumed a cup of applesauce/berry mixture and asked for more. When I told him I had the applesauce kind, but not the berry kind, he was cool with it, so I opened the new cup for him. (You see where this is going?) Well, he didn't want it after taking one small bite. I told him he had to eat it because he asked for it and I don't like wasting food. (I know, with a toddler, I say that? The kings and queens of food waste?)

So, I went into the living room while he was in our bedroom eating and watching mindless TV. (my bad) He comes into the living room to join us. He asks for something else to eat. I ask him if he had eaten all his applesauce, he said yes. I asked him several times, making sure he knew what I was asking, telling him if he did not eat it and said he did he was lying and would be in trouble...

I finally get up and check... Applesauce was still in the cup. I go to explain to Tide about what he had said and how lying was bad, he starts to swing at me. (fists... I really was going to let him off the hook until that happened) So, I send him to his room. He is crying hysterical... I let him cool off for a while.

I go in and explain to him that lying is wrong and hitting is wrong. The hitting he knows, the lying he is not grasping... I explain how when he says something that he did, but he didn't do it, that it is a lie. I try to use the example of IF he told us he took the garbage out, (his chore), and he didn't, then he is telling a lie, which is wrong. I explain again how when he said he had eaten the applesauce and didn't that he was lying. I ask him if he understands, he nods, says he's sorry. I tell him he doesn't have to be sorry because he doesn't understand, just to try and learn what is right for next time.

So, I tell him we can go now, and he insists he has to take the garbage out, I go over everything again telling him he doesn't have to take the garbage out now, that I was using it as an example... Well, he still insisted on the garbage, so I let him take it out, gave him a hug and decided I'd have to tackle lying another day.
